There seems to be somewhat of a trend when it comes to dating and musicians. Some girls only date musicians. And to get even more specific, some girls only date drummers, or lead singers, maybe a guitarist here and there.

Many of my friends are musicians, and I have found that people want to date them, or at least be their friend because of that. It's kind of sad, really, I mean, the fact that you have to have some sort of popularity status to get a date in this world.

This even happens at local shows. I'll watch a band play and see tons of little girls drooling over the singer, snapping tons of pics to show all of their other 12- year-old friends. It's ridiculous, really. I mean, seriously, they're definitely putting themselves up for ridicule, especially if they think that being "obsessed" with the "hot singer" is going to get them some attention. Well, positive attention, that is.

Let's play out a little scenario, shall we? So, say that there are two guys you can choose from; both of them are idiots, but one of them is in a band and the other is just am average, everyday gent. Who do you pick? Gosh darn right you pick the musician! Because he, unlike the other, is in a band, has lots of friends and fame.

I guess it just has to do with popularity. I mean, even if you can be a rock star's boyfriend/girlfriend, at least you can hang out with them and soak up some of the fame-maybe just be seen with them in public a few times. It's really all about social status.

So, really, why does this happen? Is it just the fact that this person is on the stage getting recognition, or do musicians have some sort of a pheromone juice that they slosh all over themselves before a show. The world may never know.
