That's the way it's looking at ABC Radio. The network -- WJR-AM (760) is the Detroit purveyor -- has signed the actor and former U.S. senator as special program host and senior analyst.
The Republican from Tennessee is perhaps best known for his role as District Attorney Arthur Branch on television's "Law & Order." He will be based at ABC Radio's Washington, D.C., bureau.
According to a network statement, Thompson will host ABC News Radio specials and programs. He will provide commentary and analysis of politics, policy, national security and current affairs. But most importantly, he will fill in for , now 87, when the legendary radio host is on vacation or has other time off.
Harvey's shows -- the 8:30 a.m. weekday newscast and news and comment in the 11:30 a.m.-noon time period and the 7-8 p.m. Tuesday-Friday news hour -- reportedly make up the largest single contribution to the network's revenue for his singular ability to move sponsor's products.
According to a posting on her Web site, Crow's doctors call her prognosis "excellent," although she will receive radiation treatment as a precaution.
