As it bolsters its rights management strategy stateside, UK distributor Target Entertainment has bagged a number of US-originated titles for Mipcom.
The Surreal Life takes seven celebrities and puts them in a Beverly Hills mansion for two weeks, where they are set a series of tasks. Stars have included Vanilla Ice and model Caprice.
In Strange Love, hardcore rapper Flavor Flav (Public Enemy) finds his soulmate in action star Brigitte Neilson, while My Fair Brady looks at the relationship between Christopher Knight, 40-something child star of The Brady Bunch, and the young winner of America's Top Model, Adrienne Curry.
Target has also picked up alternative dating series Next! and gameshow Truth Hurts from US indie Lighthearted Entertainment. Next! has aired on MTV in the US to about 1.8 million viewers and is described as "a TV version of speed dating."
Truth Hurts puts relationships to the ultimate test using a lie detector. Three couples have the chance to win a cash prize by answering questions about their relationship whilst attached to a polygraph machine.
Target has taken on a new show from City Lights, Movies 101 (9x60'), which features A-list stars such as Jennifer Anniston, who gave one of her first interviews since her split with Brad Pitt.
From Evolution, Target has acquired Beach Patrol (10x30'), a new docu series featuring real-life beach patrolling which is described as a cross between Baywatch and Cops.
Jane Dockery, Target's director of international sales, said: "The acquisition of these shows demonstrates the strength of Target's relationship with the independent production community in the US. We're confident we can sell extensively using our network of international buyers."
