Summit County businesses would get $14 million in federal money for defense projects as part of the 2007 Defense Appropriations Bill that passed the Senate on Thursday.

Sen. George Voinovich said he requested nearly $1.75 billion in funding for Ohio projects in the bill, including the $14 million for Summit County companies.

The bill sets aside $1 million for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for combat aircraft tires; $3 million to Lockheed Martin Defense and Surveillance Systems for the Millennium Gun system; and $10 million for BWX Technologies, newly merged with Babcock & Wilcox, for aircraft carrier nuclear propulsion equipment.

Users of the online hangout Facebook revolted and won as the site agreed Friday to let them turn off a new feature that drew privacy complaints because it lets others easily see changes made to their personal profile pages.

The backlash came over Facebook's decision Tuesday to deliver automated, customized alerts about a user's closest friends, classmates and colleagues. Users who log on might instantly find out that someone they know has joined a new social group, posted more photos or begun dating their best friend.

The feature was meant to help users save time. Instead, Facebook saw thousands of users joining protest groups on the site and signing online petitions. A Web journal was even set up calling for users to boycott the site next Tuesday.

Eaton Corp. of Cleveland announced Friday today that it has signed two agreements with fuel-cell manufacturer Altergy, creating a global collaboration to provide fuel-cell power for telecommunications and other applications.

Through this collaboration, Altergy's advanced, low cost fuel-cell engines will be integrated with Eaton's electrical control and power distribution products, to create complete stationary fuel cell systems.

Additionally, Eaton will install, commission, start up, monitor and service Altergy fuel-cell products and systems at customer sites worldwide through Eaton's network of service professionals.

Delta Air Lines Inc., the nation's third-largest carrier, said Friday it is recalling up to 65 furloughed pilots and 200 flight attendants to provide cabin relief and help service the company's expanded destinations.

The airline, which has been operating under bankruptcy protection since September 2005, expects to emerge from Chapter 11 by the middle of 2007.
